John's 2003 CTS head gasket job

This caddy has 46k and Cadillac diagnosed it with a blown gasket. As we always do, we will make sure, as we take it apart, that their diagnostics were correct.

Today was just the beginning of getting it set up for the work. Day 1.

I want to apologize for the lack of my usual coverage reports, but due to the satellite company installation failure at my home office, I have been unable to update the site.
Today is the second of May, and they are rescheduled to come this morning, so keep your fingers crossed.
Well, here we are at the point of diagnostics to see if what the dealership had said was in fact the truth. Was the gasket leaking? Yes! As I have said many times, they do tell you the truth; it is the cost where dishonesty comes in. It is not the employees fault. They have guidelines to follow; it is the corp that decides the cost.
Take note at the rear of the head where you will see the dark color. This is where the leak was. So yes, in fact this is bad.
Tomorrow, as we are out of time, we will inspect the surfaces to make sure they have not been damaged.
This CTS is only 46k and you never know when something may happen or why.
We will do some research on this motor and see what we can come up with. Either way, we will get her back on the road.
Anyhow, we have accomplished all except for the sprocket bolts which were delayed due to out of local stock, so two are coming from Reno, NV and the other two from Philly, Pa, so upon their arrival we will get this done and back to John.
Thanks for watching, Tim
